Maya's predictions

The last week my friend and I spoken about this topic because Paula saw a program in Mega where talked about the end of the world. She told we that In this program the people explained their end of world believes and what their do to avoid their death. Obviously we laugh of this people because we don’t believe of the ends of the world.

In presentations of prehistory (a subject we do this semester),   A group exposed about the maya’s calendar. This calendar have a relation with the end of the world believes, because a Mayan created a “cuenta larga” calendar and in the December 21 this calendar ends, haven’t anything after this date. For that many people interpreted this (end of the calendar) with the end of the world. And this is a rational answer to the “Maya’s predictions” and the end of the world. The people see what they want to see.

I don’t think the end of the world happens, less this way. Because if the world will end, will be for the human action and not of natural ways. In this program (on mega), a woman told about a huge wave to cover an extensive America territory. This, I think it’s a joke, very bad joke because many people think that it’s true and live with fear all the time. Remember the 2000, a large amount of mass suicides for the end of the world; Sad!

It’s clear, I don’t believe of the end of the world on December 21.  For that I will not do something eccentric or strange in this date or before.

Be green!!

How green are you? It’s a difficult question because i think the people is conscious about this topic but they don’t do anything for to care the environment. The true is I don’t do too, but it is not because I don`t want to be something about my environment, only is because I don’t know a lot of this topic. For that, obviously I don’t know where the people learn to be friendly with their environment; if you know, please tell me.

I don´t be incorporated in a program of recycling, Maybe, I do something of  “recycling” when I drink beer in the university, because I pick up the canning of beer and bounce to the recycling’s  trash and when I go to my uncle plot, the trash is separated in organic and not organic, because my uncle use the organic trash like a manure.

I think I help to the environment, because sometimes I use the bike or my legs for walking and go to close place, if I can’t do that I use the publish transport because I don’t know to drive a car.

If I could be part of a eco-organization, I don't know if I would do it; because I think I should have a change of my mind for be part of this organization. I must be a change of lifestyle, and this is a very long process. Maybe when I am prepared, I will be part of this type of organization. But in this moment I m going to do all to stay reach of my hand

What is the sense of life?

Very hard questions, very philosophic. I think we always think about this, but its difficult writer in a paper this topic, because put my thinking in word is complex and its possible the people have a difference with my view points. But well.

The sense of life for me it’s tray to be happy with all things that I do, like in my family life, professional life and others area; because if you are happy, your environment will be happy.  it’s very sad to see a people doing thing that they don’t like because their life are very poor and sometimes they don’t want to live. Other important things is have a light life, I mean of don’t fight with other people, have an smile in your face all time, be kind with other, principally with the people who need it’s the most, and like Chileans said “no enrollarse”, it’s a good advice J  

But the most important thing you should have very clear your sense of life, because this give us the roads direction that we will have to follow and with this form you don’t go out of the way.

A phrase that I want to share:  “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Mayan pottery

An investigation made by Dmitri Zagorevski, director of the Proteomics Core in the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies at Rensselaer and Jennifer Loughmiller-Newman a doctoral candidate at university ay Albany. In this investigation, they found a physical evidence of Tabaco in a Mayan pottery.

The studied pottery was dated more than 1.300 years old and was decorated with a hieroglyphics about a god who was smoking a kind of tabaco. In this investigation, the technique were used to studied the pottery usually used in the studied of modern diseases and proteins. The technique included gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS) and high-performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LCMS). Both are chemistry technique and combine the physical separation of gas or liquid chromatography with the analysis capabilities of mass spectrometry.

The result of the investigation was: in the pottery was found rest of nicotine (an important elements in tabaco fabrication) and three components of the nicotine oxidation.  But they didn’t find an evidence of nicotine smoked, in fact, the byproducts of nicotine when smoking tabaco wasn’t here. In the other pottery samples, the investigator didn’t find any kind of nicotine.

The result was very confused because the specific hieroglyphics in pottery don`t have relation with its content, for that it’s very difficult understand the context, but the important was the technique used in the process, is a door for other investigations 

The bad men

I woke up that  morning feeling really strange. I didn´t know exactly what it was. Its very unusual because i wake up very happy and with great thinks. But in this cause was differents ,  i had an idea that round in my head with clarity. In the  last evening, i was study  and eaten some pice of bread in my kitchen and  stayed  a lot of time in here.  And obviously in a moment i was tired and went to sleep to my bedroom.  My bedroom’s windos is oposite the street, for that  i always heard the outside sound.

Suddenly, in the middle of the night i woke up very  worried and frigthened, but i didn’t know for what?. For that i went to my window for take some aire and calm. But in this moment i saw something  very terrible and frigthened me more. I saw to my neighbor  who lives in the  finish of the street, killed to Little dog, I didn’t know what to do, i cry a lot but i didn’t want shout because i thought  the bad men could be hurts me, I was in shock and afraid.

In a moment my dad entered to my bed (but i don’t know why, mybe the father ‘s instinct) and answered me: What do you happens?, because  He saw me cray and afried. For that i told him and my dad called the pólice. The bad gay was  to arrest, but the por dog death.       

My life proyect

It very difficult to speak about the future, even more of my proyects and dreams.  But can be funny.  In 15 years i was 35 years old and i will have finished the university (pregado) and will probably  have a work and family (at least have a child).

i think that it will probaly that i have the same fiend to now because i have a stong  bond with them;  especially with my school friends. And obviously its will probably to know other people.  I will have traveled to other countrys because its very important for me to know other places, but i ned money for that.

I will have had a good relation with my family because we are very close, it think that i might live with my brother because we have a good relation and get on very well. Obviously  i am going to have a family but i will not get married, i dont belived in the marriage.

Professionali, i think that i might do a post grade because i think that its very important to develop in the area, and  i will be working in a job  to like me, but in anything to involve to work in a office because  i like a free air.

I can`t die if i don’t go to…!

This topic is very difficult, because I would to know a lot of places. All the people have the dreams: I want to know all the world, and I think that I have the same dream. But in this moment I write for a place that I know but I would like to go again, it’s Salvador de Bahia.

Salvador de Bahia is in Brazil, It’s a very important town and the population is majority black. In 2006 I went whit my school class to this town, but we stayed in here a little time (2 days), for that I would like to go again. In this place, we know the street market (was enormous) and a little of the center. And the beach too. (very beautiful)

The true is: if I didn’t go again, I would be regret, because this town is amazing. I would like to know very well and if I could, I would stay here for a long time. There people is very kind and happy, and its streets are very beautiful. If I went, I would walk on the paved streets and swim in the sea.

If I had the money, I would go with my family because I want that my family know this place. I think that they love it. If I didn’t go with my family, I would do with a friend or a boyfriend. And the last option is going alone, but I know that I would have a good time too.  

It’s very fanny to think about a travel that you wish did, because you dream with this place and imagine us in here. But the dreams can be possible 

vacation with class

In this year, my faculty had a big strike because we fought for a better education in Chile. This strike last 5 months, because in November, the students decided to come back to finish the second semester.  This decision involves to have a class in vacations.  In the Christmas and new years, we will worry for classes that will be boring.

  It’s very complicate to have a semester in 2 months, because it’s the knowledge is much to be learned in so little time. In this semester I have 5 subject and English.  I hope to have good grades in the subjects because my vacations (in February) wil be better, because I am not going to have to study in this time.

The bad thing for this strike (for me) is that I all the years I worked in December and January, but now I can’t for the class. I expected to work well this year because I have the money for holidays, but that doesn’t happen.

 But the strike wasn’t in vane.

I hope to have a good Christmas and new years. J

Family's day

Hello, in this moment, the teacher let me to write about something that I like a lot. The true is: I don’t know to writing. I want to write a lot of thing like my hobby, the thing that I like my dog or other. The decision is very complicated. For that I m going to tell you about my Family’s Sunday.  This day is very important for my dad (I don’t know why) for that my family (mom, dad, brother and sister) and I have lunch together. If I or my brother sleep outside (other house), we have to arrive early to home. My dad becomes angry if we arrive late.

My dad goes to the supermarket and buys delicious food for the lunch, like a back of pig, or raviolis, or makes a lasagna or other.  My daddy cooks the food, sometime my mom helps him, I make the salad, and my sister put the table (sometime my brother put there, but is very uncommon). It is a Family’s work J.Obviously; we eat very late like 4 or 5 in the afternoon. We have a great moment; we talk about us week, an important thing that happens in this country, or talk about politics or other topic very important and interesting. We stay sitting until the evening.

I like the Sunday days, it’s very important to me because I stay with my family all the day. In the week this is not possible, because my parents and brother work and my sister and I are students for that we have a different time.  

I hope that you make the similar thing with your family because is a grated form to stay together and have a time for us.

Hello! in this moment I want to write about a picture that i love it. Its very difficult chooses a one picture, because I have a lot of them in my Facebook, and show important event for me.

In this case, i want share a beautiful pic where it was photograph the geyser of Taito. This is not my favorite picture but I think that is wonderful because show us  an amazing event of nature. I do not remember that who took this picture (maybe Rodrigo, Catalina [my friends] or me), but it is not important. This picture was taken in October in 2010, when my Friends and  me traveled to San Pedro, north of Chile. We went to the Anthropology Congress, and known a lot of part of San Pedro too. This experience was very exciting and unforgettable.

I like this picture because a remember this moment very well. We went to know the geyser very early, 4 o'clock at the morning. This mornig was very cold and the road to arrived to the geyser was very long. But when we arrived to geyser, we was in shock. This place was very beautiful and i think that this picture prove this. The gayser emerged of the ground, the mountain in back and bright sky is very amazing.

You should to know this place! Do not be repentant!

Education problems!

Today

 Iwant write for something very important and contingent, it is the problem with the education. During this year (and the  previous) the student organized a lot of strike for asked a resolution in the educational problems.  The request are (mainly) equity in the enter to university, improvement in the programs education and increase aid for part of state.

I think that the mobilization are good because it is important that student fight for their rights.  The government should finance the public education, don’t let privatizing the education. The educational minister is depriving a lot of scholarships given to student with economic problems. In actually, I am study with credit, if the state didn’t give me that, I could not study. I think that this situation is very common. For that, I informed of the situation of education and I discussed with my peers. Its obviously that I went to the demonstration on Thursday. I asked for the joust education.

I think that the government should listen the student and thy will debate for the problem to education. The government should not get the financing for student with economical problem, and they should leave to privatize the education.

The education is a right for all, without discrimination!     

If i were to London....

In de future, I hope to travel to England because i think that country its amazing. London is the capital of England and has beautiful places. If sometime I can to travel to this country I will know a lot of places.  In a week I will meet very important and beautiful places. The truth is: I make a table to planning my visit of someone places, its very freak, but is a big illusion. Obviously I used the tube because I don`t have a lot of money and is most funny, it was a adventure :)   In my first day on London I visit the London eye, a fabulous panorama to see London from the top, is expensive but worth it :) (cost  18.6 pounds, cheapest fare). I m going in the evening because i have to rest after the plain. I take the tube like transport because is most cheap. The London eye stay in the embankement station. The second day, I will go to tower of London, this place tis very important to history of that country because was a prison, very scary!. The tower stays in the tower hill station and opens from 10 o’clock at the morning, for that I going in the morning and have the evening free. The next day in going to the British museum, and stay in here all the day because is very big and interesting, And the wonderful things is that it is Free! Fabulus. I take the tube and download in the Holborn station.  The others day I am going to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in the afternoon and see the all wax dool, Funny!. To Natural History Museum, im going in the morning in Friday, this place is free and stay in the south Kensington in zone ! like others tube station that I will take. In Saturday, im going to Camden Market to buy souvenir and give for may family. (I hope to not expensive). In may free time , im resting or waking in the city and goin to bar or dancing club :D

Obviously I know others places that I don´t put in my table, like the big beng or Buckingham palace, but that will see in the road.

My Favorite Song in English

My favorite song in English is “No Woman, No Cry”, by Bob Marley. I don’t remember really well when I heard this song for the first time, but I know that it was with my brother, Pedro. He really likes this type of music, and he showed me this song when I was like twelve or thirteen. “No Woman, No Cry” belongs to the reggae style and it is one of the most popular songs of the legendary Bob Marley.

I like this song because is really soothing and it talks about how a woman shouldn’t cry, although, of course, back then, when I was a child, I didn’t know the real meaning of the song, and I just like the rhythm. Now, when I’m twenty, this song makes me feel very calmed and optimistic about the future, and I often play it when I’m studying.

“No Woman, No Cry” was included in the album “Natty Dread” in 1975, but it reached fame in the live version of the “Live!” album, released in the same year. There has been made several covers of this song, some of there played by famous artist like Wiclef Jean, Andrés Calamaro and Sean Kingston.

Well, in this post I am going to talk about of my favorite piece of technology. First, I should tell us that I don’t love the technology, the reason is: I don’t understand it. I don’t be a technologic person. I don’t know use the computer programs.  Neither, I don’t know unload music, programs or games.  Once, my boyfriend asked me, if I know a new program for computer and I said: Is it a program of television? :S

Moreover, I don’t have a modern cellular, because I don´t understand too. My cell phone is very easy to use. When I lost my cell, I was being happy. Really, I don’t care the cell phone.

However, a technological thing that I love and I can’t “live” without is myMP3. The MP3 is wonderful because is small and I put the music that I love; it’s the best invention forever. I can listen to music every day, in all time. (Except on class or important meeting). When I travel by car or public transport I turn up my pendrive and listen to music that I like; I don´t disturb anybody whit a noise. (I hate the people who listen to music on your cell phone without earphone, their make a lot noise).

My first MP3, I sold with my fist salary when I was 16 years.  But it was stolen. In this year, in my birthday my boyfriend gave me another, I was happy!. It’s very fabulous.

  Today I’ m going to talk about myself and why I choose anthropoloy career. When I went to school, I wanted study anthropology and I didn’t study anything else. When I finish the school I was sure that I entered for this career, but wasn’t that.  Therefore I entered to Bachillerato and “study” this for 2 years. Actually I have the bachiller’s grade.

   This large way does not discourage me to study that I was like. And now I study anthropology!! J. This is my second year. But I want study archaeology (this is a mention of anthropology and I m going to take the next year). I choose this area because I like to work in “free air”, climb hill and found different tools that there can be explain the human past.

  This discipline is important because the people can know of the human past and the different process of our evolution. Too we can learn for different cultures that inhabit our land. But there do not possible if we do not use the technology tools. For that the archaeology should go with the vanguard of technology and we will have more accurate data.

  My favorite subject (I think) is the zooarqueologia.  I think that is fascinating. I love the idea of see an animal bone and know their date of live, their hill, their geographical settlement and other things.

  I will hope convert in archeologist, a good archeologist!

A little remembrer of my child

I don’t know a lot of place in Chile or other country, for that my list of place to know is very extensive. But I have in my mind a place, a very beauty place. When  I was a little person, I thougth that place was very magic.  This place is located to 47 kilometers of noth-east of Cauquenes (VII region of Chile) and the name is Loanco.

It iwas tradition of my Family go every year on febrary and stay in here for thee days ( it is a few days, but my family and I have a great moment). The tradition exist because my ancle made his birday in this place ( Hi was a owner of house)

When we arrived, my aunt waited us with a very delicious lunch, like lentil, beans, charquican and other tipical dish. Obviously, The childs eaten first. If  Ibfinished my lunch, I went to the beach or dune of sand to play with my brother or others child.

 I was like play and throw to the dune. I saw the dune very, very high. When I satyed in the top, I had fear. But I though other thing and throw down, finally  I had a great time. It was the most funny in this place.

When the adult finished their lunch, they taken us ( me and the other childs) to the Faro. The faro was a lake that satyed to 2 kilometer  of  the house. We went  on foot, it was very tiring. We stay in this place a lot of time,  sometimes after the sunset. We arrived to the haouse and the child went to bed.

The day in this place was very long and enjoy.

I liked go again and make everything to do when i was a child.
